welcome to Islamic Welfare Trust
Islamic Welfare Trust Omassery (IWTO) is a multifaceted charitable organization, founded in the year 1979 with the intention of uplifting socially and economically backward communities through extending educational, social, cultural and health services. IWT has now become a ray of hope for people across the length and breadth of Kerala. From humble beginnings, today it has under its wings, several institutions and social welfare programs that are serving the community across the span of every religious and socio-economic spectrum. The various social welfare services rendered by the trust have come a long way. Many projects have been undertaken and satisfactorily implemented during these 40 years. The institutions under IWTO include Santhi Hospital, Pleasant English School, Santhi Academy: College of Nursing, School of Nursing, School of Vocational Education, Santhi Institue of Medical Technology, Heavens Preschool, Palliative care and Charity Clinic, Reference Library, Cultural Centers etc. and some of the most appreciated welfare activities that the trust has taken up include construction of homes for the poor, well construction, drinking water projects, marriage assistance, educational aids etc.
The IWTO was the realization of a collective dream of 11 masterminds who wanted to see the face of their hometown change from a backward and easily forgotten point on the map to a hub of activity in terms of economy and educational excellence and a place where people came from all over the state to avail its services. Towards this lofty goal, the foundation stone of its tiny building was laid on February 12th, 1979 by Janab Moulana Muhammed Yusuf, the All-India President of Jama’ate Islami at the time.
Located 30 km southeast of Calicut City in a rapidly developing village called Omassery, the Head Quarters of the Trust is comfortably close to the Calicut International Airport as well as the Calicut Railway station. It is well connected by the public transport system to and from different parts of the state as well as surrounding states.
